PROPOSED STUDENT CODE AMENDMENTS



      The following proposed amendments to the Code of Student Conduct are
recommended by the Board of Trustees Student Code Revision Committee.

Note: Unless indicated otherwise, wording proposed to be deleted is
       bracketed and wording proposed to be added is underlined.


Recommendation 1

Replacement of the pronouns "he", "his", and "him" with appropriate pronouns
and nouns which do not have a connotation of gender.

1.2 Disciplinary Offenses

Add the following note:

Note 3: Lack of intent may be asserted as an affirmative defense by any
student charged with an offense listed above. Further, the word "intentionally"
should be deleted from 1.21p.


Recommendation 3

1.41

Add the following paragraph:

      When a violation of section 1.21c, d, e, f, g, h, i, m, o, q, or r and
a violation of Part II: Selected Rules of the University Senate Governing
Academic Relationships, subsections 1 and/or 2 of Academic Offenses and
Procedures, have allegedly been committed in the same set of circumstances or
facts, the Dean of Students shall first consult with the Dean of the College
in which the offense occurred. They shall determine whether the Dean of Students,
the Dean of the College of the offended academic unit, or both will investigate
and pursue the case in accordance with the appropriate procedure(s) and authoritl(ies)
as set forth in Part I or Part II of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
