  The growth of the State University of Kentucky during the last few
. E years can be impressed upon one in no better way than by saying that
  the teaching force now numbers ninety-eight. In this number are in-
L il eluded the President, the Deans of the six colleges, the Dean of the Grad-
  uate School, twenty-four heads of departments, eleven professors, seven-
  teen associate professors, fourteen assistant professors, twenty instructors,
iii, the professor of physical education, the physical director of women, the
  eonimandant and the director of athletics. Besiges the teaching force
 ttl there are seventy-two persons at the Experiment tation engaged exclu-
  sively in experimental and extension work in agriculture.
lit; There are twenty buildings on the University campus proper. In
  addition to these there are Patterson Hall, the University Hospital, the
 ill Experiment Station, the Hog Cholera Serum Laboratory, and numerous
 it farm buildings. Last summer a one—story frame building was erected
  between the old dormitory and ex-President Patterson’s home. This is
i   used as a University commons, where students and any others connected
 {ft with the University can obtain meals at cost. It will accommodate about
  three hundred people. _ _
yij About one year ago the Department of Journalism was organized as
ii; a department of the College of Arts and Science, Mr. Enoch Grehan,
 my formerly of the Lexington Herald staff, was selected as its head, and he
 ily; has done his work so well that this is already one of the best departments
  in the University, and all indications are that it will soon be one of the
`,, largest.
  C The Graduate School, with Professor A. S. Mackenzie as dean, was
itil also organized about one year ago. All graduate work, either resident or
  non-resident, is now under the supervision of a graduate school committee
  consisting of Dean Mackenzie, Professors Frankel, Tuttle, Chalkley and
"il Tuthill.
  ln the basement of the Education Building there is now a complete
itil printing plant. All University publications are printed here. Students
  and others connected with the University can get work done at cost. ;,
