THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The Alumni Association was established to render service both to the
University and to its former students. It is the purpose of this Association to
aid in the growth and development of the University, to promote the best
interests of alumni, and to enable them to keep in touch with the institution
and with each other. As the basis for its activities it maintains records of
alumni, showing where they are located and what they are doing. Its pro-
gram includes the sending of information to alumni groups both in Kentucky
and in larger cities throughout the country in order that alumni may come in
contact with each other, the organizing of alumni groups in Kentucky and else-
where and disseminating information about the University to its membership.
The Alunmi Office is located in the Student Union Building, and alumni, ‘
students, and friends of the University are welcome at all times. The annual
business session of thc Association is held during commencement and the
Executive Committee meets on the second Monday of each month except dur-
ing ]une, july, and August.
By legislative act alumni representation has been secured on the Board
of Trustees so that they may have a direct iniiuencein the administrative
affairs of the University. The officers for 1956-57 are as follows: President,
VVill Ed Covington, Ex ’29; Vice President, \Villiam P. Curlin, Ex ’28; Director
of Alumni Affairs, Helen C. King, ’25; and Treasurer, Bernie A. Shively, ’36. ·
