m' Georgian Colonial architecture and makes available 700 seats in various reading
3m rooms, stacks, and special rooms. It also houses the Department of Library
m' Science and the Bureau of Source Materials in Higher Education. The Uni-
versity Libraries, which comprise the central library and all departmental,
cd divisional, and collegiate collections, located in other buildings on the campus,
contain over 600,000 volumes. These libraries receive regularly more than
3,000 titles of periodicals and are a depository for U. S. Govemment pub-

Little Commons. This temporary building is located between the Health
all Building and the Agriculture Building and provides storage facilities.
ld Livestock Arena. This building is used for classes in light horse husbandry
and equitation; livestock shows and sales, farm meetings, and equipment shows.
Ce Lydia Brown House. This is a residence hall for women.

McDowell House. This is a residence hall for women.
u_ McVey Hall. In this building are located the olHces of the Dean of the
College of Arts and Sciences and offices and classrooms of the departments of
English, Mathematics, Radio Arts, and Social Work, the Campus Bookstore,
Bs the University Post Oflice, the oHices of the University Press, the Kentucky
y· Municipal League, and the broadcasting studios of Station WBKY. ’
Maxwell Place. Maxwell Place is the home of the President of the Uni-
)§ versity.
3 Memorial Coliseum. The Coliseum was erected by the State of Kentucky
' as a memorial to the Kentucky men and women who died in World War II
n in the service of their country. This building provides facilities for Physical
Education, including the swimming pool, complete housing for the Depart-
h ment of Athletics, and will seat from 12,000 to 15,000 for basketball games,
concerts, and lectures. Other facilities include an electronic organ, a sound
reinforcement system, and dressing rooms for visiting artists and visiting teams.
'E Memorial Hall. This building is the University Auditorium. It seats about
' 1,100 persons and is equipped with a pipe organ and carillonic bells.
Miller Hall. The Departments of_Geology and Modem Foreign Lan-
if guages have oflice, classroom, and laboratory space in this building. It also
houses the Geology Library and the Stenographic Bureau.
V Mineral Industries Building. This building houses the otlices of the State
__ Department of Mines and Minerals and the oflices of the Kentucky Geological ’
Survey.
3 Mining Laboratory. This building houses a complete pilot plant for the
beneficiation of ores by both wet and dry methods. It also contains a chemical
S laboratory designed for analytical investigations of coals and ores. It is operated
by the Department of Metallurgical and Mining Engineering.
I Neville Hall. All office, classroom, and laboratory space in Neville Hall is
_ used by the Department of Psychology.
Nursery School. The nursery school is operated by the Department of `
