Home Economics.
Observatory. This is the observatory of the Department of Mathematics
and Astronomy.
Patterson Hall. This building is a residence hall for women.
Pence Hall. The library, offices, classrooms, and laboratories of the De-
partment of Physics are housed in this building. The office of the Dean of the
Graduate School is also located in this building.
Pharmacy Building. This building, erected in 1956-57, houses the College
of Pharmacy.
Psychology Annex Building. This building is located at 620 South Lime-
stone and is used by the Psychology Department for offices, classrooms, and
the speech correction clinic.
Service Building. This building houses all offices and shops of the Division
of Maintenance and Operations, the central store room of the University, and
shipping and receiving facilities. The third floor of this building is used as a
Library Annex and temporary museum.
Small Animal Laboratory. This building is used as an experimental lab-
oratory in agriculture.
Social Science Building. This building is located north of the Library
and houses classrooms and offices for the departments of Sociology, Political
Science, Geography, and Anthropology.
Stock Iudging Pavilion. In addition to its use as a stock judging pavilion,
this building furnishes classroom space for work in animal husbandry, poultry,
and entomology.
Student Union Building. This building is the center for student activities.
In addition to the lounges, ballroom, restaurants, recreation rooms, and assem-
bly rooms the building houses offices for student organizations, the Alumni
Association, the Y.M.C.A. and the Y.W.C.A.
W. S. Taylor Education Building. In addition to the University Elementary
and High Schools, this building houses the office of the Dean of the College of
Education, the Bureau of School Service, and classrooms for college courses
in education.
Tobacco Research Laboratory. In the laboratories and greenhouses con-
tained in this building the College of Agriculture and Home Economics is
carrying forward research in culture, curing, and diseases of tobacco.
White Hall. White Hall provides office, classroom, and laboratory space
for the College of Commerce.
Edward ]. Wilford Meats Laboratory. In this building are housed modern
freezer lockers, facilities for slaughtering and curing meats, and the retail sales
room.
Additional permanent buildings include the cooperative houses for women
students, two small dormitories for football players, fraternity and sorority
houses, residences, horticultural greenhouses, agronomy greenhouses, barns, and
storage buildings.
Buildings to be conrpleted in 1957-58 include a housing project for faculty
and staff members, to accommodate 186 families, several sorority and fraternity
houses, and Holmes Hall, a residence hall for 289 women students.
