Dr. Anirv Vandenbosch, head of the political science departmenl on the campus, was named ihc "Distinguished Professor" of the College of Arts and Sciences for the year 19-l!)-'46.
Dr. Vandenbosch has been a member of the University political science department since lfliili. He was a member of the International Secretariat at  the recent San Francisco  United  Nations conference.
ear  A few decades ago, there was no University of Kentucky. Arising from a combination of many schools, it answered the need for higher education in Ken-lucky and filled its purpose admirably.  To the people at the University now, the future seems more important than either the past or the present. The new field house, the men's and women's dorms, and all the improvements that are to come xuill make the University into an even larger and better school than it is today.  e a u {
This year the Kentuckian queen was chosen a little differently than she has been in the past. Instead of an open contest at Memorial Hall, it was held in the ballroom of the Union with only the judges and a few members of the Ken-tuckian staff present. The judges were all connected with the University and it was difficult to choose among the thirty-three contestants.
The original plan was to keep the identity of the Queen a secret until the Kentuckian came out but the plans were changed and the Queen was presented at the Veterans' Club Dance.
