PREFAEQ
The Inventory of Federal Archives in the States is one of the
I products of the w6?k`E? the Survey of_?ederal—Archives, which
operated as a nation-wide project of the Works Progress Adminis-
tration from January 1, 1956 to June 50, 1957. It has been con-
tinued since tnwt date as a state project of thn`Iorks Progress
Administration and of the Work Projects Administration, and later
as a unit of the Historical Records Survey, a state project of the
same Administration.
The plan for the organization of the Inventory is as follows:
Series l consists of reports on the administration of the Survey,
acknowledgments, and general discussions
