       D.    President's Report to the Trustees (PR 1)

       President Singletary reported the approval of the EPSCoR grant,
stating it was a significant program enhancing the University's research
competition. He thanked Mr. Lassetter, chairman of a group of business,
government and university leaders, who worked with the Governor and her
staff in putting together the project. Mr. Lassetter expressed
appreciation for Dr. Leonard Peters' significant contribution and for the
support of the Governor's Office, without which, he said, the committee
would not have been successful.

       President Singletary also announced (a) the energy conference
scheduled on September 18-19 which is expected to attract some of the top
energy research people in the country, (b) the Saturday Seminar Series,
preceding home football games from September 13 through November 15,
sponsored by University Extension, (c) a $1.2 million agreement between the
state and the University's Transportation Research Program, and (d) the
$75,000 Merck Foundation Award from Merck, Sharp, and Dohme, which was
presented to the College of Pharmacy.

       E.    Personnel Actions  (PR 2)

       With President Singletary so recommending, on motion made by Mr.
Ramsey, seconded by Mr. Larry Jones and passed, the routine personnel
actions in PR 2 were approved. (See PR 2 at the end of the Minutes.)

       F.    Supplemental Personnel Actions  (PR 3A-1)

       Acting on the recommendation of President Singletary, Mrs. Hayes
moved approval of the supplemental personnel actions in PR 3A-1. Her
motion was seconded by Mr. Griffin and carried. (See PR 3A-1 at the end of
the Minutes.)

       G.    Naming of University Building (PR 3A-2a)

       President Singletarv indicated his pleasure in recommending that the
new football training facility be named the E. J. NUTTER TRAINING CENTER in
honor of Mr. Ervin Nutter's significant contributions to the University of
Kentucky. The motion, which was made by Mr. Brereton Jones and seconded by
Mr. Black, was voted on and unanimously carried. (See PR 3A-2a at the end
of the Minutes.)

        H. Naming of University Building (PR 3A-2b)

        President Singletary also indicated his pleasure in recommending
that the new Lexington Community College building be named the RICHARD P.
MOLONEY, SR. BUILDING in honor of the late Senator Moloney's many
contributions to education in the Commonwealth in general and to higher
education in particular.  Professor Wilson so moved.  The motion was
seconded by Ms. Greenwell and unanimously carried. (See PR 3A-2b at the
