r VII COUNTY COURT
(1) The county court is made up of the county judge, who is a conservator
of the peace, and who is elected for a four-year term (Const. of 1891, secs.
99, 100, 1MO; see County Judge). The county court sessiEns—aYE'E€ld—once
each month, but spEEial`tE?ms*m y be called by the judge (Carroll*s Kentucky
Statutes, 1956 ed., sec. 1058).
I (2) The county court fixes the terms of the justices' courts (ibid., sec.
_ 1085), and has power to divide precincts in the county and change their
boundaries (ibid., sec. lhbh). The county court has jurisdiction to pro-
bate wills, appoint and remove personal representatives, guardians, trustees,
committees, curators, and other fiduciaries, and grant tavern, drug, and liq-
_ uor licenses (ibid., sec. 1057). It also has other jurisdiction, such as
over bastardy charges, as may be given by law (ibid., secs. 166, et seq.).
(5) It has further jurisdiction over; assignments (ibid., sec. 76); penal
and misdemeanor cases exclusive of the circuit court~whEro the punishment
_ is limited to a fine not exceeding $20, and concurrent with the circuit court
~ where the punishment does not exceed $500 or imprisonment of twelve months,
or both (ibid., soc. 1095); cases of parents failing to educate deaf chil-
dren (ibidT7_298f-6); cases involving dependent, neglected, or delinquent
childr$E`(ibid., secs. 551g-l, -5, 55le-2; see Juvenile Court); tho care and
i custody of idiots and lunatics and their estates (ibid., sec. 21h9); and con-
current with thz circuit court of the trial of persons violating game laws
(ibid., sec. 1958a-9).
(L) Additional jurisdiction is given the county court over; condemnation
proceedings (ibid., sec. 859); forcible entry and detainer proceedings (Civ-
il Code, sec.`E5K); preservation of records, with power to have same traE:_
scribed and rebound (Carroll, op. cit., sec. 1652); watercourses and water
districts (ibid., secs. 958g—l, et seq.); county patrols (ibid., sec. 5780);
I and cancellation of the registrations of voters (ibid., sec. lh86bb-15).
(5) The county court may bind out infant children (ibid., sec. 2591) and
hear complaints and make orders concerning same (ibidTT*secs. 2602, 2605).
(6) All places of public entertainment where intoxicating liquors are sold
must obtain a license from the county court (ibid., sec. 255hd-1). The
