Members, Executive Committee, Board of Trustees:

            RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE
                    HIGHER EDUCATION FACILITIES ACTS

Recommendation: that the following resolution be adopted:

         RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION
                      FOR GRANT FUNDS UNDER TITLE I
              THE HIGHER EDUCATION FACILITIES ACT OF 1963
                     AS AMENDED BY TITLE VII OF THE
                       HIGHER EDUCATION ACT OF 1965

WHEREAS, the U. S. Commissioner of Education is authorized under the Higher
Education Facilities Act of 1963 to grant funds for the construction, rehabilitation,
and improvement of certain academic and related facilities; and

WHEREAS, the governing body of the University of Kentucky, hereinafter called the
Applicant, is cognizant of the conditions under which such grant funds are made
available and approved for payment to an applicant; and

WHEREAS, it is the sense of the governing body of the Applicant that it is desirable
to apply for grants under the aforementioned act for the construction of additional
academic facilities at its main campus at Lexington, Kentucky and at its community
colleges.

Now THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
   1. That applications for the projects described above are authorized and directed
to be filed with the Kentucky Commission on Higher Education, with the under-
standing that if upon due consideration by said commission, applying the criteria of
the State plan, said applications receive a priority rating sufficiently high to re-
ceive grant funds under the aforementioned act, said applications will be forwarded
to the U. S. Commissioner of Education for his approval.

   2. That the governing body of the applicant designates Robert F. Kerley, Vice
President-Business Affairs and Treasurer, University of Kentucky as the person
authorized to file the applications and act as the representative of the applicant in
connection with said applications.
