d Important changes were made in the University marking system,
B` probation procedure and requirements for graduation after this
bulletin was printed. The new marking system and probation pro-
de. cedure will be in effect for all students with the beginning of the
fall semester of the 1954-55 academic year. The new regulations
‘YS· concerning graduation requirements will affect all students entering
the University at the beginning of the fall semester of the 1954-55
academic year or at any time thereafter. These addenda have been
prepared in order that the student might be fully aware of these
changes. The following paragraphs should be substituted at the
places indicated.

Paragraph I-
Probation. With the exception of the Colleges of Law and Pharmacy any
full—time student who fails either to pass nine semester hours of work during a
regular semester (or five semester hours during a summer term) or fails to
ex` attain the following designated standing shall be placed upon probation by the
college in which the student is enrolled.
;iH_ Freshman—average of 1.4 quality points
€d_ Sophomore—average of 1.6 quality points
]uniors and Seniors—average of 1.8 quality points
Probation shall continue until the student attains the scholastic standing
specified for his classification in the University. Any student failing to meet the
minimum standards specified for two consecutive semesters or terms shall be
dropped from the University. The above regulations, with the exception of the
for minimum number of semester hours required, shall apply to part-time students.
Each college shall submit to the Oflice of the Registrar a complete list of stu-
dents placed upon probation or dropped from the University, within two weeks
; a after the dean of the college receives the grade reports from the Registrar at
the close of each semester or term.
The dean of a college may recommend to the Scholarship and Attendance
fm, Committee that any student enrolled in his college be removed from probation
and the committee shall review the case and take appropriate action.
The dean of a college may recommend to the committee that a student who
has been dropped from any college be readmitted to the University either with
or without probation; however, such student shall enroll in the college making
the recommendation for readmission.
The committee shall review the case and take appropriate action. Any stu-
dent dropped a second time shall not be readmitted to the University.
Paragraph 2-
The above rules shall apply to part-time students with the exception that
the minimum number of semester hours a part-time student is required to pass
shall be half his scheduled load.
