tion is approved by the University Registrar, the dean of the college, and the
head of the department concerned. Application should be made in writing to
the Registrar. A student who visits a class as an auditor is not allowed an
examination for credit.
Extension Work. Not more than thirty-two of the credits required for a
bachelor’s degree may be gained by extension (including correspondence
1 courses), special examination, or both. A student may not satisfy in excess of
I one-half of the requirements for a major by extension, special examination, or
both.
Under certain conditions, up to six of the credits and nine weeks of the
_ residence required for any master’s degree may be satisfied by extension courses
· given in person by University of Kentucky instructors. (Students who registered
before February, 1952, may count up to one-third of the requirements). No
graduate credit is given for courses taken by correspondence.
Not more than twelve credits of extension work done by a student during
one calendar year will be accepted by the University unless it may be definitely
shown that the work has been done under condtions where the student has
been engaged in full—time study and has not been otherwise employed. This
includes extension work done in other institutions.
A minimum of thirty of the last thirty-six credits presented for an under-
graduate degree must be completed in residence (exclusive of credit by ex-
tension and special examination).
Northem Kentucky Extension Center. Undergraduate work may be taken
at the Northem Kentucky Extension Center, Covington, Kentucky, for residence
credit under the following conditions:
A maximum of sixty-four semester hours taken at the Center, or in
combination with extension work, may be applied toward an undergrad-
uate degree, provided not more than thirty-two of the sixty-four semester
hours may be in extension work.
Students who transfer to the Center from other institutions with a
view to obtaining a degree from the University of Kentucky must com-
plete a minimum of thirty of the last thirty-six semester hours on the
Lexington campus.
Graduate work may be taken at the Northern Kentucky Extension
Center to apply toward a graduate degree under the following conditions:
A maximum of six of the credits and nine weeks of the residence
required for a master’s degree may be taken at the Center, or by a com-
bination with other University extension work. (Correspondence courses
are excluded.)
Any student, graduate or undergraduate, planning to transfer credit
earned at the Northem Extension Center to other institutions should in-
quire as to the applicability of such credit toward degrees which those
institutions award.
Entrance Examinations. All new students, other than those entering the
Graduate School, are required to take the University classification tests and the
University physical examination.
Absences. Absences shall be counted beginning with the first day of reci-
tations.
