Sweetheart's Elopement
A long time ago I remember quite
well.
In a neat little maiden a cottage
did dwell:
She lived all alone with her friends

all serene,
Her age it was red, and her hair
was nineteen.

I
"1

This maid had a lover who close by
did dwell

bandy backed and
cross lecrcred ns well.
He said fly with me by the light of
yon star,
You're the eye of my apple, oh
yes, that you are.
Hump-eye-

Oh, now said the maiden, be gentle
and wise,
Or my father will tenr out your
nails with his eves:
Mind what you are doing, don't bring
me discrrnce.
Said the maid, and she buried her
hands in her face.

the Romany."
After the Lexington performances,
Mr. Van Hovenberc will
Now York to continue the production
ot tnc play in that city.
