.   A trained nurse lives in residence and is available at all times
`   for emergency calls. An infirmary is maintained on the campus
._  on a twenty-four hour basis. . j
 f The cost of room and board in all residences for women is A
  $400 a year, half of which is payable at the beginning of each
  semester. The University reserves the right to change these rates
I   at any time. Checks should be made payable to the University
  of Kentucky. Refunds on room and board will not be made after n
    the twelfth week of a semester. A student withdrawing during
p   the first twelve weeks will have withheld 8% of the total fee for
  each week or fraction thereof. Refunds on room and board will
  not be made for temporary absence from the residence halls. A
_   student must withdraw officially in the Office of the Dean of
\ In   Women to be eligible for a refund on room and board.
· ·   The University maintains one cooperative house accommodat-
‘   ing approximately 20 women students. Application for a reserva-
j   tion in the cooperative house should be made to the Office of the
  Dean of Women. Applicants are selected by the Cooperative House g
~ j   Committee on the basis of scholastic records and recommendations.

I   in a cooperative

  Ten national sororities accommodating approximately 250
  students in residence have chapter houses on the campus of the
  University of Kentucky.
»’ RESIDENCE HALLS FOR MEN

` E The University operates four residence halls for men. As part
‘   of its emergency housing program, the University has erected
  eleven officer-type barracks designed to house approximately 500
  single men. It has also established two housing projects for mar-
-4 ried veterans, known as Cooperstown and Shawneetown. These
v   two projects accommodate 498 veterans and their families. Three
  different type dwellings to accommodate different sized families
{ compose the Cooperstown and Shawneetown projects.
  All male freshmen are required by order of the Board of
7 Q Trustees to live in the residence halls so far as space is available. 4
/ 1 To reserve a room in the halls or barracks or to secure a
i   dwelling in Cooperstown or in Shawneetown it is necessary to
  send a ten dollar deposit to the Office of the Dean of Men. This
  application should be made as early as possible. The University _
  does not automatically reserve rooms for freshmen. The deposit
’ will be returned if notice of cancellation is given ten days before
g the opening of the semester. The Office of the Dean of Men main-
tains a list of rooms located in private homes. Students may come
. to the office and select a room from the list.
