Tho engagement of Miss Anita
Baca, of Santa Fe, N. M., and Mr.
Perry Rogan- Cassldy, assistant professor of thermo dynamics, Stato University of Kentucky, was announced at a
beautiful luncheon given In honor of

Monday, September 6,
at her home.
Miss Baca is a daughter of Hon.
Roman L. Baca, for soveral years
Speaker of tho House of Representatives of Now Mexico, and Is a social
favorite.
Mr. Cassldy is tho second son of
Superintendent and Mrs. M. A. Cassldy and Is an alumnus of State University. After graduating from that
institution in 1911 ho went to Chicago, where ho was engaged with
Sargent & Lundy, consulting engineer. In 1912 ho established himself
as consulting engineer in Santa Fe
and it was during his stay there that
the romance began.
The date of the wedding will be
announced later.

Grainger, members of tho class of '15,
will bo In tho faculty of tho Paducah
high school for tho coming year.
Spencer Roark, a '15 graduate of
Paducah high school, is a Freshman
in tho University.
Mr. Roark comes
with an enviable athletic record, having been captain and star end for P.
H. S. last year.
Miss Florence Hughes, member of
last year's Senior class, has been giving swimming lessons
at Lincoln
School and Blue Grass Park during
the summer.
Mr. Owen S. Lee, State '15, has been
appointed chemist at the Kentucky
Experiment Station. Mr. Lee is doing
research work in the fertilizer department at the station.
Miss Folsom McGuire, State '14, has
been appointed principal of Athens
school in Fayette County. Misses
Julia Van Arsdale and Laura Steele,
former State students, received appointments in the Fayette County
schools, also.

Thomas R. Underwood, son of T. C.
Underwood, editor of the Kentucky
Era, of Hopklnsvllle, a young newspaper man of several years' experience, is one of the matriculates majoring in journalism.
His work in the
newspaper game has been such as to
call for favorable comment from the
older editors of the State.
Miss Martha Willis, one of last
year's Juniors in the Arts and Science
Department, will not return to school
this fall. She has accepted a position as instructor in the Shelby ville
high school.
Charles Rorer, of Cynthiana, who
was a prominent athlete in Cynthiana
high school and who since the
mdidle of the summer has been pitching winning ball for the Lexington
.Ohio State League team, has matriculated at the University.
