Building, for University of Kentucky employees. Items of interest
to members of the faculty and
staff are accepted. Notices should
be brief but complete and accurate,
and every item must be signed by
the contributor. They are not
taken by telephone. The deadline
for submitting copy is Thursday
noon of each week. New stalf
members will find that many of
the notices are of Interest to other
members of their families, and
they are requested to take the Bulletin home with them.

University of Chicago Press.
Dr. Dowers said the collection included a rough draft and a finished
manuscript of a long poem, "Song
of the Iledwood-Tree,- "
which has
never been printed and which he
plans to edit for publication.
The Whitman letters in the Barrett gift are to his mother, to
James Russell Lowell, John Burroughs, Bayard Taylor and others.

The big news

The manuscript of the 1860 edition of "Leaves of Grass" by Walt
Whitman has been given to the
University of Virginia by Clifton
Waller Barrett, a retired New
York businessman.
Dozens of poems, some never
published, letters and postcards by
Whitman and to him, scattered
notes, photographs and other items
are included in the gift. Among the
printed items is a first edition of
"Leaves of Grass," published July
