             The Mary LeGrand Didlake papers consist of a scrapbook of late 19th-century newspaper clippings and a bird watching notebook from 1905.

             Biographical note 
             Mary LeGrand Didlake (1878-1971) was the daughter of George Ware Didlake and Ann (Nannie) Bain of Lexington, Kentucky. During the Civil War, George Didlake served as a Confederate soldier and was incarcerated at Johnson's Island, Ohio. Mary Didlake worked in the Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky from 1891 until her retirement in 1957. She started as a student assistant in 1891, served as interim department chair in 1929, and retired as an associate of the department. Additionally, she was the University of Kentucky's first female valedictorian in 1895.
