Top ReturneesDave Harris (6-1 G) 10.8, Gary Garrison (6-10 C) 9.7, Donnell Reid (6-4 F) 8.2, John Smith (6-0 G) 6.9
OUTLOOK: With eight players towering 6-5 on up to 6-10 and seven lettermen back in the fold, long John Bennington should have little trouble improving on last season's 11-15 record and fifth place finish in the Missouri Valley. A schedule dotted with toughies could present the biggest problem. Three starters return and are due to be joined by some towering new men to replace leading scorer Tom Kief-fer (1 1.2) and guard George Latinovich (8.7). Tops among the regulars: 6-1 guard Dave Harris. Soph standouts are 6-10 Gil Beckemeier and 6-5 Rich Naes.

OUTLOOK: Whack Hyder will have the services of three returning starters and four other experienced hands, but the experts are saying that the Engineers are going to have to get important help from sophomores to improve on the tenth place SEC finish and 10-16 overall mark of last season. Such assistance may be in the offing in the persons of hot-shots Ron Scharf (6-3Vi G) and Jim Caldwell (6-9 C), who shared frosh scoring honors at 20.8 ppg. each. Top scorer Mike Tomasovich (13.2) and 6-6 center Alan Nass still are around and 1961 starter Keith Weekly (6-3 F) returns after a year of scholastic ineligibility to bolster Hyder's hopes.
