leaves quite a vacancy in the rebounding department. Slender Bob Davidson (6-7) could help solve both problems with normal improvement on his eight-a-game pace of 1961-62. Kerwin finished second to Kentucky's Cotton Nash in the SEC scoring chase at 23.1 and looms as the biggest challenger again.

OUTLOOK: New Coach Ray Mears, successful import from Wittenberg College, has installed a new offense (a "disciplined" 1-3-1) and a new defense (zone) in hopes of pumping new life into the team that managed to win only four of 23 games last season. The "new look" Vols could be irritating both offensively and defensivelybut they also could be winners. Five lettermen return to provide the nucleus of experience and there are some bright prospects up from the Baby Vol team that split two close games with the UK frosh a year ago.
