OUTLOOK: Injuries clouded the rosy pre-season picture painted for Xavier last season and the Muskies had to settle for a 14-12 record. That golden opportunity passed, Coach Jim McCafferty now is facing a rebuilding year with just four lettermen to make up for the absence of such standouts as Jack Thobe and Bill Kirvin. Key men in Xavier plans as it returns to the UK schedule for the first time since 1955 are 6-7 Bob Pelkington, Capt. Jim Enright (out in '62 with knee) and a soph hot shotSteve Thomaswho posted a 25.8 average as a freshman.

OUTLOOK: If Coach Red Lawson can get his varied material assembled all on the same page (and there's good assurance he can), SEC rivals might find a growling band of Bulldogs standing in their path this season. Ace guard Allan Johnson departed, but eight lettered veterans are back with the necessary size and Lawson also can call on a couple of hands who did not see action in '62 plus a hot-shooting soph (Jimmy Pitt23.2) and transfer Billy Rado. Look for Georgia to improve on its 8-16 finish of last season.
