ARTICLE IV: Committees



    SECTION 1. Committee Designations. The Supervisors shall appoint a Joint Conference
Committee and such other committees as the Supervisors may, from time to time, deem advisable.


    SECTION 2. Joint Conference Committee.
    2.1  Purpose. The Joint Conference Committee shall provide a forum in which representatives
         of the Trustees, Medical Staff and the Hospital Administration meet to discuss matters
         of Hospital medical policy and practice. The Committee shall review and make
         recommendations to the Supervisors with regard to programs of assurance of quality
         and appropriateness of patient care, including those required by regulatory agencies and
         accrediting organizations. The Committee shall review and make recommendations to
         the Supervisors prior to a final decision by the Supervisors whenever the Supervisors
         have not concurred in a Medical Staff recommendation regarding clinical privileges. The

         Committee shall be responsible for acquisition and maintenance of accreditation of the
         Hospital by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. It shall be responsible

         for the development and maintenance of methods for the protection and care of hospital
         patients and others at the time of internal and external disasters. It shall be responsible

         for providing advice and assistance to the Hospital Director in up-dating of one, two

         and five year plans for the Hospital and making recommendations to the Supervisors
         with respect to the plans. In addition, the Committee shall perform such other duties
         as may be prescribed by the Supervisors.

     2.2 Composition. The Joint Conference Committee shall consist of the Vice Chairman; the

         Hospital Director, the Dean of the College of Medicine; one other Supervisor; the

         Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs; two members of the Hospital Clinical Board selected

         by the Clinical Board, two members of the Medical Staff elected by the Medical Staff

         and the Vice President for the Medical Center.

     2.3 Meetings. The Joint Conference Committee shall meet at least quarterly and advise both

         the Supervisors and the Medical Staff of its activities.
