OUR LADY OF GETHSEMANI
TRAPPIST,KENTUCKY

Dear Jim:

I would be very interested; in seeing the short article
in the Iibrw News on Brometheus. What you say in your letter
is completely verified-- ’EfiEne is a very successful merging of
the meditation and the printed page. The whole book is a meditation,
everything contributes. This is a rare example of what such
things really should be. Everyone to whom I have sent the book
has reacted very favorably.Especially Mark Van D ren and also
Laughlin at New Directions and MacGregor, there t2though both of
them confess that they are not ordinarily sold on Victor's uncial).
I think the uncial was very appropriate for this- Mark Van Doren
and Laughlin both agreed that it slowed one down sufficiently so
that one had to meditate. One cannot read uncial down the center

of the page, as modern methods would have us do. I am all in
favor of printing that discourages the 700 words a minute obsession.

Thanks for the books on Is Douanier Rousseau, they are very
adequate for my purposes at the moment. I am gradually getting back
to you the various things on Russia the Hammers brought over.

Do you have one or another of the following?
Apt-Kean! _VStanislavski, K- My Life in Art N.Y. 1956
Kamila :1sz 5. fConybeare, F.W. Russian Dissenters
rHai‘ensbrink, H. Unknown Germam' Yale, 19148
fiDutourd, J. The Taxis of the Marne (in French or English)
.aRosenberg and White, ed. Mass Culture.

I list several titles not expecting that they will all be there.
Thanks for taking so much trouble to help me.

With all best wishes—
Sincerely yours in Christ

/M W

P.S. When are the Hmmers expected back? I am working on a
translation of things from the Desert Fathers which I promised
them a long time ago.
