- Dr. Byron Young (Chief of Neurosurgery, Director of Kentucky Neuroscience and Orthopedics Institute, and Johnston-Wright Endowed Chair of Surgery), grew up in Somerset, Kentucky, attended Transylvania University, then enrolled in the second class of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. In this interview, Young discusses his first years at medical school and the prejudices concerning Kentuckians. He describes the surgery department and his decision to pursue neurosurgery. Young also discusses his time after his internship, including serving in the Army in Korea.
