month previous to the Erst day of the opening of the freshman residence halls.
After that date the amount forfeited is determined by the date of cancellation.
- Refunds on room and board will not be made after the twelfth week of a
semester. A student withdrawing during the first twelve weeks will have
1 withheld 8% of the total semester fee for each week or fraction thereof dining
5 which she was in residence. Refunds on room and board will not be made for
l temporary absence from the residence halls. A student must withdraw of-
, {icially in the Office of the Dean of Women to be eligible for a refund on
room and board.
The University maintains two cooperative houses accommodating 34
E women. Application for a reservation in the cooperative houses should be made
to the Office of the Dean of Women. Applicants are selected by the Coopera-
tive House Committee on the basis of scholastic records and recommendations. _
A high scholastic average must be maintained to continue residence in a
cooperative house. Each student is to pay $50 down payment fee to reserve a
' room, which is to be used as rent for the semester. This $50 fee should be
’ enclosed with the application form and sent to the Oflice of the Dean of
’ Women. Cost of board varies with price of food, but the approximate cost is
‘ $25 per month per student. The cooperative houses are managed, operated
* and maintained by students who live there.
’ Ten national sororities, accommodating approximately a total of 375 stu-
l dents in residence, have chapter houses on the campus of the University of
i Kentucky.
RESIDENCE HALLS FOR MEN
The University operates five permanent residence halls for men. All male
· freshmen and sophomores are required to reside in the residence halls when
accommodations are available. Freshmen and sophomores desiring to live
. outside the residence halls must have special pemiission of the Dean of Men,
unless they are married, permanent residents of Lexington, or commuting from
their permanent residence outside the city.
All students living in men’s residence halls are provided breakfast and din-
ner in Donovan Hall Cafeteria Monday through Saturday. The cost is included
in the fees for room and board at the time of registering. All students
may take their noonday and Sunday meals where they wish. Students
living in the dormitory who are fraternity pledges may receive permission
to take the noon meals at the Donovan Hall cafeteria in place of dinner,
giving them the privilege of taking the evening meal at the fraternity house.
Charges are set at $255 to $275 per semester for room, breakfast, and dinner,
depending upon type and location of accommodation., Students moving
into the residence halls in the middle of the semester will be charged on a
prorated basis for the remaining time in the semester. The University reserves
the right to change rates for room and board at any time.
To reserve a room in the halls it is necessary to secure an application blank
from the Office of the Dean of Men and return it to that office with the down
payment of $50.00. This application does not automatically reserve a room. -
The down payment will be returned if notice of cancellation is given prior to
August 15. If he notifies of cancellation and this is received from the student
after August 15, but before the first day of Welcome Week, $25.00 of the
advance payment will be refunded. Persons holding housing reservations who
do not cancel them by the first day of Welcome Week and who fail to report
for registration, shall forfeit the entire advance payment of $50.00. Admission
to the University by the Registrar’s Office does not constitute an application for
