` Testing. The University Testing Service, Room 303, Administration Build- sf
ing, acts as a testing center for the administration of various standardized tests, m
e.g., Graduate Record Examination, Medical Aptitude Test, National Teachers W
Examination and the like. All placement and classification tests administered W
to new and transfer students are given under the supervision of this office. The
registration of entering students is not complete until the student has taken the tl
required entrance test battery. SI
The University Testing Service is authorized by the Kentucky Association al
of Colleges and Secondary Schools to operate the Kentucky Cooperative Coun-
seling and Testing Service.
VETERAN AFFAIRS
The University Counseling Service coordinates veteran affairs between the cl
` University and the Veterans Administration. The following paragraphs sum- if
I marize the policies respecting the veteran who wishes to begin or to continue ll
I his education at the University. 2
Where the Veteran Should Report. The veteran should report to the Uni- it
versity Counseling Office, Room 204, Administration Building, which has been
designated as the receiving center for veterans wishing to enter or re-enter the
University of Kentucky. Here the applicant will be given information about
applying for federal benefits, and general guidance with respect to vocational L
opportunities, courses of study, etc. From this office he will be referred for ti
further assistance to other persons as the individual case requires.
What the Veteran Should Bring With Him. C
1. The credentials necessary for admission to the University as described c
under the heading “Admission to the University" in this Bulletin. l·
2. A Certificate for Education and Training, Public Law 550, or a letter V
indicating eligibility under.Public Laws 610 or 894. (No payment for sub-
sistence may be made until a certificate has been filed with the University.) F
The veteran should obtain his certificate from the Veterans’ Administration as l
soon as possible after he decides to enter the University of Kentucky. Transfer C
students should request a change of place of training prior to registration. {
3. Sufficient funds to provide subsistence for two months. (
Application for Beneyits Under Public Laws 610, 894, and 550. Under ]
Public Laws 610 and 894 provision has been made for vocational education or X
training to overcome handicaps suffered as a result of service-connected dis- I
abilities. In order to qualify for such rehabilitation aid, the veteran must have (
sustained an injury or other disability which will qualify him for a pension or ]
disability compensation. A veteran who is interested in applying for educa-
tional benefits under Public Law 610 or 894 should seek information from the 5
nearest oflice of the Veterans’ Administration prior to the date for enrollment
at the University. ]
Public Law 550 (Korean GI BILL) provides educational benefits for
honorably discharged veterans who have served a minimum of 90 days in the ;
armed forces after June 27, 1950. Veterans who entered the Armed Forces 1
after ]anuary 31, 1955, are not eligible. ;
Veterans who plan to enter the University of Kentucky under Public Law ;
550 (Korean GI Bill) should apply to their nearest V.A. Office for a Certificate ;
of Education and Training. This should be done prior to registration date at
