THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE
The degree of Bachelor of Science will, if preferred, be granted under
the same conditions as govern the degree of Bachelor of Arts, provided that
the student has gained at least 60 credits in science (biological and physical).
The detailed conditions are as follows:
THE LOWER DIVISION Tok
Gener¤l Requirements The
English, first and second semesters, freshman year, 6 credits. Rule
Foreign Languages—Twclve semester hours in one language, the first nine
of which may be waived. The final semester of the intermediate year
of the language must be taken in residence. (Arabic, French, German,
Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish.)
‘ General Hygiene, first or second semester.
. Physical Education, 2 credits.
Military Science or Air Science (men), freshman and sophomore years,
‘ 8 credits.
Group Requirements
Humanities, sophomore year, 6 credits.
Social Studies, freshman or sophomore year, 6 credits.
(Anthropology, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology.)
Physical Sciences, freshman or sophomore year, 6 credits.

Biological Sciences, freshman or sophomore year, 6 credits.
(Anthropology, Bacteriology, Botany, Anatomy and Physiology, Psy-
chology, Zoology.)
Ways in Which the Group Requirements May Be Satisfied M
1. The Humanities. All lower division students will be required to com- clef
plete a series of three introductory courses in the Humanities (for a IIE
total of six credits) to be chosen in any combination of three from the gd`
following courses, except that one, and only one, shall be either Hu- ;_€q

following courses, to satisfy the group requirement in the social studies:

Science 51, American Government; Anthropology Sa, Sociology 3a, ln, l.
or Geography Sa, b, Societies Around the \Vorld; Anthropology 2,
Introduction to Cultural Anthropology; Sociology 4, Introductory
Sociology.
3. The Biological Scieuce.s·.° Any two of the following courses will satisfy 2_
the biological science requirement: Anatomy and Physiology 2 or 10;
Anthropology 1; Bacteriology 2a, b, 52; Botany 1 or 25, 2; Psy-
chology I; Zoology 1. _
° 6 of the 12 credits in the biological and physical sciences requirement must be in
