emergencies and in other situations where provision of services is required for
professional ethics. With the approval of the Dean. however. exception may be
made when the nature of the assignment and the duties of the faculty member
require his location in a non-Medical Center setting for the discharge of his Uni-
versity responsibilities.

        (2) Dentists' Services Plan -- Dentists with full-time appointments in
 the College of Dentistry shall deposit in the Dentists Services Account of the Fund
 for the Advancement of Education and Research in the University of Kentucky
 Medical Center all fees from services that are incident to the care of patients and
 to all other activities which are a part of the Medical Center prograrn. Income
 from publications and honoraria for lectures or other activities which are not a
 part of the Medical Center program are excluded from this Plan, but remain
 subject to the policies and regulations of the Board of Trustees.

       As a condition of employment, dentists who are full-time faculty members
in the College of Dentistry will not maintain offices outside the facilities of the
Medical Center or engage in the practice of dentistry outside of the approved
programs in the Medical Center except in infrequent and special circumstances
as in emergencies and in other situations where provision of services is required
by professional ethics. With the approval of the Dean, however, exception may
be made when the nature of the assignment and the duties of the faculty member
require his location in a non-Medical Center setting for the discharge of his
University responsibilities.

       Documents detailing the administration of the Physicians' Services Plan
and the Dentists' Services Plan have been approved by the Board of Trustees and
appear as a part of the Administrative Regulations.

            4   Patent Policies

       As a general policy, patent rights resulting from activities using staff time,
materials, equipment and facilities of the University shall be owned and controlled
by the University. An\ staff member making a patentable discovery with the use of
such time, materials, equipment and/or facilities shall assign his patent rights to
the University, or its designate, but shall have an interest and share in the returns
(The term "staff" is here interpreted as including any member of the faculty, staff
or student body of the University. ) Except as otherwise agreed, patent rights re-
sulting from sponsored research shall be owned and controlled by the University.
Any agreement with a sponsor pertaining to patent rights and the assignment thereof
shall be made in advance of the research.

       The interests of the University and a member or members of its staff in a
patent shall be determined by a Standing Committee on Patents appointed by the
President on the basis of principles adopted by the Board of Trustees upon the recom-
mendation of the President
