amount of residence for this degree is one academic year or four
terms of summer school beyond the bachelor’s degree.
5 Professional courses on the senior or graduate level are de-
signed primarily for majors in Library Science but non-majors
may be admitted on approval of the Head of the Department. Stu-
dents in the College of Education who are working for the degree
of A. B. or M. A. in Education may elect courses in Library Science
to fulfill the Southern Association requirements for teacher-
~ librarians. Students in subject fields also may elect certain courses
i in Library Science to qualify them for positions in special libraries. ·
Those interested should consult with the Department for guidance
in the selection of such courses.
Introduction to Library Work is open to juniors who are in-
terested in Library Science as a major. A student must have at-
s. tained senior standing before being admitted to other professional '
Q courses, except on approval of the Head of the Department. An
[ orientation course, Use of the Library, is offered for students in the
[ lower division. An independent work course is also available to
* students who desire to study some hase of Library Science re-

a lated to their major, field of concentration, or thesis.
E Previous experience in library work and facility in the use of
¤ the typewriter are considered assets for all majors in Library
Science.
