c.    The President of Student Government with the advice
                and approval of the Vice-President for Student Affairs
                shall then appoint fromrthe list provided twentrsix
                members in accordance with 1.422, wcho shall comprise the
                U. J-EBoard pool from vhich the Hearing Officer shall
                draw as needed for a particular hearing or hearings.

         d.    The Hearing Officer shall be appointed by the President
                of the University. The President may appoint a substitute
                for the Hearing Officer at any time that officer is unavailable
                when his services are needed.

1.425    Terms of Office

         The Hearing Officer and the student members shall be appointed
         to one-year terms. All terms are to begin September I and end
         on August 31.

1.426    Absences

         Any unexcused absence during the term of office shall result in
         automatic dismissal from the U. J-Board. The U. J-Board,
         acting as a unit may make such additional regulations regarding
         excused absences as it may deem appropriate. All requests
         for excused absences shall be made to the Hearing Officer.
         The decision of the Hlearing Officer may be appealed to the
         University Appeals Board in writing within thirty days of the
         Hearing Officer's decision. However, such appeal shall not
         suspend the action of the Hearing Officer.

1.45     Temporary Sanctions


          In the event that the Vice President for Student Affairs has
          reasonable cause to believe that a student's presence may
          result in injury to others or University property, or in the
          event that he has been charged with a crime so serious as
          to threaten the welfare of the University community, the
          Vice President may impose such temporary sanctions as he
          considers necessary to protect members of the University
          community or its property, including exclusion from. University
          property. Upon taking such action, the Vice President shall notify
          the University Appeals Board. The student may appeal the Vice
