victories this week, however, there is the possibility UG could be a dark-horse.
The first win came against Division II opponent Troy State Monday night by an unimpressive 64-57 score. The outcome didn't phase forward Walter Daniels, a returning starter for the Dogs.
"Right now most of us guys haven't played together," Daniels said after scoring 18 points. "We're not playing near what we're capable of."
According to Guthrie, Daniels had better hope not.
"I realize things are going to get rougher," he said after watching his team trail by six much of the first half before taking a 30-26 halftime lead. "We're going to have to claw and scratch for everything we get and I'm not going to change that now."
The Dogs trailed 53-47 in the second half before 12 unanswered points-six by freshman LaVon Mercer pulled them through.
Saturday night Georgia whipped 1-4 Buffalo 108-77. At one point the Dogs outscored Buffalo 40-4 during the final 20 minutes. .
OLE MISS- While Auburn and Alabama remained idle during the week, the Rebs split two games. Tulane drubbed the Rebs 64-59 Wednesday evening but whipped South Dakota State earlier.
