education and for general continuation school classes. The University of Ken- (
tucky has been designated as the state institution responsible for the education
of teachers for this work.
A five—year program of preparation for educational training directors and
other educational training personnel for schools, business, and industry is
offered in the College of Education. The last three years of this program are
on a “cooperative” basis with students spending altemate semesters at the Uni-
versity and in work-training situations on the job in business or industry.
Distributiue Occupations. The George-Barden Act of 1946 provides for the
education of teachers of distributive occupation. The University of Kentucky
has been designated as the state institution responsible for this service.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The College of Education grants the Bachelor of Arts in Education de-
gree to students who major in education and select their group work from
art, biological sciences, business education, chemistry, English, foreign lan-
guages, library science, mathematics, music, physical education, physics, social
sciences, or education for teaching exceptional children. Students who com-
plete the curriculum for elementary teachers are also eligible for the degree
of Bachelor of Arts in Education.
In order to graduate from the College of Education, the student must
complete 128 semester hours (exclusive of the required physical education)
with a standing of 2.0. He must also satisfy the University’s requirement in
physical education, military science, and residence before he may be graduated.
The student may pursue his work on either the elementary, junior high or
senior high level. The requirements for each are given below:
