charge of one dollar each. Transcripts may not be issued for anyone who has Sc.
failed to meet all financial obligations to the University. Transcripts are sent rc.
to other institutions, agencies, or persons, only at the written or personal request C0

Requirements for Gruduution Or
To be eligible for any degree, a student must have completed the require-
ments as approved by the University Faculty, except that curriculum sub-
stitutions may be made by the college affected. Curriculum requirements must
include, in addition to specified credits, a specified grade point average which T,
shall in no case be less than 2.0. M
For an undergraduate degree, regardless of the length of time the student
has attended the University, a minimum of 30 of the last 36 credits presented
for the degree must be completed on the main campus of the University. This
rule may be waived for veterans provided they present at least 30 credits m
earned on the main campus. C
Not more than 32 of the credits required for an undergraduate degree dl
may be gained by extension (including correspondence courses). A student
may not satisfy in excess of one-half the requirements for a major by extension.
The Graduate School. For the requirements for graduate degrees see the
statement of the Graduate School, page lG7.
Applications for Degrees
To be eligible for a degree, the student must file an application with the `
dean of his college within two weeks after the beginning of the term in which
he hopes to complete his work.
Commencement Honors. Students shall be graduated “With High Dis-
tinction" who attain a grade point average of 3.6 or higher for at least three
years of work at the University of Kentucky (excepting extension and cor-
respondence study).
Students shall be graduated “\Vith Distinction” who attain a grade point
average of 3.4 to 3.6 for at least three years of work at the University of Ken- .
tucky (excepting extension and correspondence study). ll
A student with a minimum of two but less than three years of work at the U
University shall receive the appropriate commencement honors if he attains a
grade point average of O.2 greater than the above.
The degree with honors fro1n a professional college shall be based solely
upon work done in the professional college.
A year’s work shall be considered as a year’s residence including a
proportionate part of the credit hours required for the degree.
. The bachelor’s degree with honors in the student’s major subject will be
conferred upon the student who, in addition to having completed the require-
ments for the degree, shall have (1) attained high standing in his major sub-
ject; (2) passed with distinction a thorough comprehensive examination in his
major subject; (3) been recommended for the said degree by the faculty of
the department in which his major work was done and by the dean of his
college. Students majoring in those departments that require the final com-
prehensive examination are automatically candidates for departmental honors.
Diplomas. Diplomas may be issued at the annual commencement con-
vocation. They may be issued by the University registrar at other times when
the degrees have been recommended by the University faculty and approved
by the Board of Trustees.
