Candidates for the forestry program should indicate to the Dean of the gem
college that they wish to apply for the Liberal Arts-Forestry curriculum. Ad- inte]-
mission to the college is granted under the same conditions as for other cur- Sew;
ricula. At the end of the first semester of the third year the college will rec-
·ommend qualified students for admission to the Duke School of Forestry. Each
.recommendation will be accompanied by the student’s application for admis- th?

The University of Kentucky maintains a unit of the senior division of the Fha
Air Force Reserve OHicers’ Training Corps in conformity with the provisions Penn
of the National Defense Act of 1916, as amended. CSE;
Object. The object of the Air Force Reserve OHieers' Training Corps is
to provide systematic military training at civil educational institutions for the I
purpose of qualifying selected students of such institutions as reserve officers YEA]
in the United States Air Force. This object is attained by employing methods L6
which fit men physically, mentally, and morally for pursuits of peace as well gv
as for duties as leaders in the defense forces of the nation in an emergency. gm;
Educational Aim. The course of study is designed to give the student abil
training which will be as valuable to him in his industrial or professional con
career as it would be should the nation call upon him to act as a leader in
its defense forces. mis
General Policy. The policy adopted by the Department of the Air Force mu
to carry out the provisions of the Act of Congress of ]une 3, 1916, as amended,
is to qualify students for positions of leadership in time of national emergency
and to inculcate in them a respect for lawful authority, and to teach the fun- p
damentals of the military profession and air science.
The primary purpose of all training is the development of character, mall
leadership, and good citizenship; character through high standards of honor nar
and integrity, leadership through the acquisition and use of knowledge, good fOr
citizenship through the idea of service as the real measurement of accomplish-
ment and success. of.
The Air Force Reserve Oliicers’ Training Corps curriculum is applicable anc
to all students regardless of their field of academic study and is designed to me
produce junior officers possessing qualities and attributes essential to their
progressive development in the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard. Pai
Air Science courses are open to women students with approval of academic Hd‘
advisors and college deans concerned. _
