9.   NOVEMBER RESEARCH AWARDS TOTAL $314,000

      The University Research Foundation has reported the receipt of 19 agreement
awards totaling $314,076 during the month of November. Awards for scholarships
and other purposes totaled $260 for the same period.

      Awards for the first five months of the current fiscal year now total
$5,593,982. The sum received during that period for scholarships and other
purposes amounts to $18,355.

      The November awards were distributed as follows:

      COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

      Department of Agronomy--H. F. Massey and G. T. Webster, $4,300, U.S. Depart-
ment of Agriculture Forest Service, Central States Forest Supplement No, 9, U.S.
Department of Agriculture.

      Department of Entomology--J. G. Rodriguez, $500, for experimental applications
of several Chemagro insecticides for the control of drosophila, Chemagro Corporation;
F. W. Knapp, $23,000, for study of sheep nose bot control, U.S. Department of Agri-
culture.

      COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

      Department of Music--Hubert Henderson, $3,300, for Central Kentucky Youth
Orchestra conductor, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra.

      Department of English--Lizette Van Gelder. $88,715, for National Defense
Education Act Institute for Advanced Study in English, U.S. Office of Education,

      COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS

      Bureau of Business Research--J. L. Fulmer, $4,219, for a survey and report on
the economics of law practice in Kentucky, Kentucky Bar Association,
