University of Kentucky Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes - 1879, June 10



      Board met - Messrs. Metcalfe, Bradford, Duvan and Breckinridge present.

      The minutes of the meeting of May 13 were read, approved and the action taken
at the said meeting was ratified.

      Upon the recommendation of the Faculty, the degree of Bachelor of Science is
hereby confirmed upon N. B. Hayes, C. S. Perry, H. M. Wright and C. G. Blakely.

   The agreement made between J. P. Metcalfe, Chairman of this Board and W. T.
Withers, Chairman of the Executive Committee heretofore approved is now ordered to be
opened on this record and is as follows, viz.(specifically):
   "The use of the farming and garden implements turned over to the Executive
Committee of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky by the Executive
Committee of Kentucky University except as hereinafter stated is conceded by the latter
named committee of said Agricultural & Mechanical College. The use of such portions,
the chemical apparatus, museum, geological, anatomical, mineralogical and botanical
specimens as may be required and specified by the professors of chemistry and natural
history, for their use is also conceded to said college.
   The boundary of the land heretofore selected for said Agricultural & Mechanical
College as described in the communication of President James K. Patterson on behalf of
the college to the Executive Committee of the said University, is changed as follows: the
right to the use of the sod pasture west of the Ashland Mansion on the Richmond pike is
waived and in time thereof the orchard field at Dearville estimated to contain six acres
including the house upon it, and the
