The University of Kentucky has built an impressive record playing in Louisville over the years. The Wildcats have won nine SEC Tournament titles and defeated some of the best teams from around the country before Wildcat fans in Louisville.
Kentucky began playing in Louisville in 1936 when the Cats lost to Notre Dame, 41-28. In fact, the Cats under Adolph Rupp lost the first three games they ever played in Louisville and all three were to the Fighting Irish. However, since that time the Wildcats have been devastating and have rolled up an 89-20 record in Louisville. Broken down, the Wildcats are 42-15 in regular season play, 43-3 in SEC Tournament play which was held in Louisville from 1941-52, and 2-2 in postseason competition.
Kentucky's most impressive string of victories in Louisville came when the Cats won 32 straight games between 1946 and 1951. Only seven of the 23 teams Kentucky has faced in the 106 games in Louisville have been able to knock off the Cats. The longest running series was with Notre Dame with the Wildcats holding a 23-9 advantage. The Cats hold a 4-0 advantage over DePaul in Louisville and are 3-0 against Kansas in Freedom Hall.
