Members, Board of Trustees:


               ROBERT H. AND ANNA B. CULTON GIFT AND PLEDGE

Recommendation: that the Board of Trustees accept a gift of $10,000 and a pledge of $40,000
from Robert H. and Anna B. Culton of Maitland, Florida, to establish and endow the Robert H.
and Anna B. Culton Professorship for research devoted to women's mental health problems,
substance abuse or victimization from violence or to studying interventions to remedy these
problems.

In accordance with the Council on Postsecondary Education guidelines, the Board of Trustees
acknowledges that it has primary responsibility for the implementation of the Endowment Match
Program and is responsible for providing oversight of all endowment funds.

Background: Robert Culton, a 1951 graduate of the College of Agriculture, is a businessman
and real estate developer. He and his wife are generous supporters of the University and recently
made a significant gift to UK for the Governor's Scholars scholarship program. The recipient of
the professorship may hold an appointment in any UK college and will be selected by the
Provost from recommendations made by a committee appointed by the Provost and the Vice
President for Research. The Culton's gift and pledge is eligible for matching funds from the
state's Research Challenge Trust Fund.
