     In accordance with the information you have furnished, the estimated

Premi=x rates have been prepared on the assumption that eligibility would

be extended to all active full-time employees (except temporary employees)

who are members of the faculty, administrative officers, Division heads

or Unit Dilrectors.

     Non-faculty employees must work 32 hours or more per week in order to

be considered full-time. Although all present full-time employees would be

eligible to participate on the effective date of the plan, employees who

enter the plan after the group policy has become effective must have at

least one year of service in an eligible class before becoming eligible.

However, if an employee was insured under another TIAA Group Total Disability

Benefits contract within three months of the time he becomes employed in an

eligible class, the probationary service requirement will.be waived and he

will become eligible for insurance as of the first day of the month coin-

ciding with or next following the date of his dmployment.

     When the University pays the entire premium, all eligible staff members

will9 of courseg be covered.
