gineering, but they desire more specific information; and they
direct the president to confer with him, as to the necessities
of his department somewh.t more in detail, and report to the
  next meeting of the Board.



     Thereupon President Patterson read to the Board a communi-
cation from Dr. Pryor, asking for an appropriationrof $500 for
work in his department of Physiology and Anatomy; and there-
upon moved,

     That $?5O be appropriated to Dr. Pryor's Department for
the conduct of original research.

     Said motion was seconded by Judge Lafferty, and put upon
its passage, and upon roll-call the vote stood as follows:-

     Ayes - Messrs. Hopkins, McOhord, Nicholas, Frazee, Lafferty,
Metcalfe, Terrell, Patterson and Carpenter.-    9

     Noes - None

     Judge Kinkead, not voting.

     The motion was carried.





     At this point President Patterson made a statement as to
the needs of additional assistants in various departments of
the college.

     Thereupon upon motion of Mr. Metcalfe, seconded by Mr.
Hopkins, and carried, President Patterson was authorized and
directed to correspond with suitable persons to be employed as P.129
assistants in agricultural chemistry, modern languages, english,
Physics, and mathematics, and report to the next meeting of
the Board.


     At this point President Patterson presented to the Board
and read a communication from Prof. Milford White asking for
an appropriation for the use of the Summer School; and made
the following motion:
