Biography/History

Daniel Henry Holmes, Jr. (1851-1908) was born in New York, New York, the son of Daniel Henry Holmes (1816-1898), a successful businessman and founder of the D. H. Holmes Department Store in New Orleans. He had a family home in Holmesdale, Kentucky.

Scope and Content

This collection includes fifteen (15) letters, written by Holmes to his daughters and wife, while he was in Europe.
