The New York Central Railroad Company operated a large network of railroads in the Northeast and upper Midwest from 1831 until 1968. The company primarily connected New York with St. Louis and Chicago, but also owned many railroad lines in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
The New York Central Railroad Company Stock Collection consists of stocks and bonds from the New York Central Railroad Company. The collection contains stock certificates from many railroads owned by New York Central, including the Michigan Central Railroad and the Toledo and Ohio Railway Company. Notable items include bonds from the city of Philadelphia with an engraving of Henry Clay's portrait and a railroad bond signed by Cornelius Vanderbilt II.
