Clergyman. Edward Combs Watts was the minister of the Simpsonville (Ky.) Methodist Church.
This collection consists primarily of typescripts and printed documents concerning the history of the Methodist Church in Kentucky. Historical sketches cover Methodism in Anderson, Carroll, Clark, Letcher, Madison, Montgomery and Shelby counties, and in Corbin, Ky. There are also sketches on the Centenary Methodist Church (Lexington), Methodist Episcopal Church South (Covington), and the Simpsonville Christian Church. Biographical sketches about evangelists John Maley Wilson and John Floyd Wilson are included. These historical sketches cite various Kentucky churches, Methodist leaders and anecdotes concerning church life as early as the 18th century. A genealogy of the Watts family, written by Combs, presents detailed accounts of the family ancestry and related family names such as Owsley and Lawrence.
