  THE KENTUCKIAN.
It is not only the price of subscription but the spirit that
prompts it, that the publisher appreciates. THE KEN'l`l’CKI;\N
has given more prominence in this city and in the State to State
College than any and all other publications. For this reason it de- `
T serves the support of every one who has at heart the interests of .
this institution. It is an absolute fact that many of its monthly
issues have cost more than the issue for the entire year of its pre- .
, decessor, "The Cadet." lt is as true as it is lanientable, that most r
L College publications are of very little or no use to institutions they
I represent. At the very outset Tnié l;l€N'l`(`CKI.\N sought to re-
`? verse this order of things and to make this magazine of great val-
` ue to the College. How well it has succeeded is of record and
has been attested to by everyone who has scanned its pt ges——ev—
eryone from the Governor and Legislature of the State, to County
School Superintendents in the remotest parts ol the Common—
wealth. The editors deeply appreciate the hearty and enthusiastic
support which the boys have given this magazine, a support of
which any publication might be proud. The subscription list in
College and in the town nearly doubles that ot any previous year.
Among the hundreds of noble and generous boys who have
shown their liberality "in other ways than xvords" by enrolling
' their names as subscribers to Tm; K1£N’t‘t‘ct;1.\N are the following:
