Game 12
Mississippi State 49, KENTUCKY 57 January 12, 1987 Humphrey Coliseum
Starkville
The Wildcats snapped their two-game losing skid by holding off the Bulldogs 57-49.
Kentucky used seven three-point blasts and some clutch free throws to escape from Starkville with the victory.
UK held a slim lead of 32-30 when freshman Derrick Miller came off the bench to can two three-pointers that sparked the Cats on a 15-2 run.
But even with State connecting on a low 40.5 percent from the field, UK could not put the Bulldogs away.
The home team clawed its way back to cut the deficit to four in the final 30 seconds. But the Cats drilled six consecutive free throws to seal the victory.

Game 13
KENTUCKY G7, Florida 62 January 14, 1987 Rupp Arena
The inconsistent Wildcats had just enough Jekyll to offset their Hyde and hold off a furious Gator comeback to down Florida 67-62.
The Cats held a comfortable 63-40 lead with 6:44 left to play when their luck gave way.
The Gators rattled off 17 unanswered points to pull within three. Florida almost got its chance when Ed Davender missed the front of a one-and-one with only 10 seconds left in the game.
Paul Andrews rebounded Davender's miss and was fouled. The senior hit both free throws to close the game.
Vernon Maxwell led the Gator's comeback with a game-high 26 points.

Game 14
KENTUCKY 41, LSU 76 January 18, 1987 Rupp Arena
It will go down as a dark day in the history of Kentucky basketball.
The LSU Tigers stormed into Rupp Arena and completely dismantled the Cats 76-41. It was the worst Kentucky loss since 1950 and the worst home defeat in 61 years.
After leading by four at the half, LSU shocked the Cats with a 51-20 rout in the final period.
The Tigers' sticky man-to-man defense forced UK to shoot a dismal 25 percent from the field. LSU knocked in 52.6 percent of its shots.
Anthony Wilson dominated the Cats with 28 points while Nikita Wilson poured in 16.
