she expects in a few days to confide her future welfare in his keeping
they went to Uniontown, Ky with the expectation of leaving for the south
on Monday next

27th I was at work in tobacco this morning/at the Point in the evening &c.
28th I went to Uniontown to day in company with G Mitchell
29th I went to Uniontown to day again with Mary A Cooper and Mary
E Smith went to see Lydia Clark and William Clough Married They were
‘ married at the residence of Joseph Alvey, Esq by the Rev Mr Tichenor V
as I stood and looked upon that young Couple who were just steping out
as it were in the Broad Field of life pledging to each other through a
life of weal or woe to be one to bear each others trials afflictions or
prosperity as I wished them a safe Happy and prosperous Journey through
life I done so from the Bottom of my Hear? yet at the same time I could
but feel sad Long years ago I saw one who bore the relation of Mother to
Lydia stand at the Altar a few years more Lydia was an orphan that Mother
who had watched over her tender infancy was gone her child left to Battle
with a cold a callous world unprotected by a Mothers Guiding hand or a
Mothers love though young in years she has had cause to know the depths
of a Callous cold and unfeeling world May the past be a lesson and May
the future be such asko compensate for the past and May a life of Use-
fullness lead to an e dless one in heaven is the wish of the Writer I
’ 30th To day ends the month of Sept the day is wann almost sultry
I have Been at work in tobacco Cutting &c this has been a fine month
for the Tobacco crops but I am not half done cutting yet
October lst I have been Housing Tobacco to day at the New Barn this
has been the warmest day I ever felt at this season of the year
2nd I was Housing Tobacco to day but it rained nearly all day making
it a disagreeable job
` Brd I was Making Tobacco sticks and fireing Tobacco to day
hth Making Tobacco sticks in the morning went to church in the
evening but there was no preaching
Sth `Went to Church this morning Elder Utley Preached and to singing
in the evening
6th At work in Tobacco this morning and went to T S Knights in the
evening
