30th I Rode through the bend of Highland today in company with
H D Williams on an Electioneering Tour with what success Monday will Tell
Blst `Hent to E H Clarks this morning after Lydia came home in the
evening with this ends the month of July this Month has been unusually
warm and at the begining of the Month was verry dry but of late we have
had fine rains and the crops now look well and the Prospect now is really
cheering to the farmer and now on this sabbath evening I bid farewell to
this Month forever feeling grateful for its many blessings to the giver of
all
August lst I will begin the Month of Aug by remarking.that this is
our·Annual Election day today the People of Ky are called upon to Elect
a Governor State officers Members of Congress Legislature &c I was at
the Polls today and cast my vote for the opposition ticket and allthough
that ticket may be defeated at this Election it is a vote I will ever
feel Proud of The vote was unusually large at Long;Landing with an
Average gain for Both Parties Paid F B Jones SIC on an Execution against
E A Cannon & others
2nd Went to Henderson today in company with G B Martin Paid

the farm all day
Sth I attended a Party at G W'Cabells at night in company with Miss
Ellen Allin a large crowd in attendance as usual
6th I went to Lame & Co Mill in the Morning spent the evening at
the Pint as usual
, 7th Sunday I went to the Halnut Bottom in company with Sue Gibson
to church Heard the Rev Mr. Marlow Preach two sermons
Sth There has Nothing of interest occured today and so I will write

A Dream of the loved and the Absent
Is Haunting My Pillow tonight
Once More in the Summer eves gloaming
I gaze through the dim fading light
Cn scenes that were dear to my childhood
when Hope showne Unclouded and Bright
And Methinks that the loved and the Absent Dear ones
I Knew in those bright gladsome days
Are chanting with heavenly cadence
