l6th This is the day of Rest set apart as a day on which we are to
serve god and rest from our daily avocations and I feel this morning in
the Language of the Apostle I would that all Men everywhere might serve
him But oh how few in this heaven favored Land are really serving him
to day I was at Sabbath School this morning and at Singing in the evening}
17th I was about home today doing nothing in particular
18th Doing Nothingdn Particular
19th I went to see John Higgins this morning he was verry low with
Typhoid Fever took dinner at G B Martins came home and toped some tobacco
in the evening
20th Doing nothin in Particular a squirrel Hunting in the evening ’
2lst Toping Tobacco in the morning went to Sam Coopers in the evening
22nd I was a Church this evening Elder Fallan preached this is m  `
Birthday again I am 3l today
23d I was at Sabbath School this morning also at Church Dr. Nicholson
Preached this was one of the most interesting discourses I have ever listened
to and though the weather was excessively hot he had good attention Paid him
for 2 hours he also addressed the congregation again in the evening
2hth I have been riding arround all the morning Went to Mrs. Allin's
&c went out in the hills with B. F. Martin and T. Smith and from their to
John Higgins in the evening there was a verry sudden change in the weather .·
this evening as the morning was verry warm and the evening cold enough to
make a fire comfortable
25th This has been the coldest day I ever felt in August and tonight
we have a fire that looks like winter
26th went to James Buckmans with A T Taylor this morning and toping
Tobacco in the evening the weather is still verry Ecol
27th Went to Henderson to day in company with B F Martin `
» 28th I went to Union Co. this Morning and toped some tobacco in
the evening
29th I went to the Mill this morning and to G Mitohell'sin the evening
the weather is still verry cool and I think we will have frost to night
30th Sunday This is the coldest morning I ever felt in August as
there was a heqvy frost last night Our Baby was verry sick during the
night and I have experienced considerable uneasiness about him it looks
hard tosses ons ch ld suffer yet this entailed upon the whole human race
and all have to bear their share As I have stood over and watched the
changing countenance of my child as he see ed to suffer so much I have
