_ 16th I was   church this morning but there was no preaching I was
riding arround in the evening with some men who wished to buy cattle
17th I sold lh head of Cattle this morning to a couple of men by the
name of Robertson and Conner for $389 I traded off my Gray Poney to Dick
Posey for six head of Cattle and $55 in money I let Conner & Robertson
' have 3 steers that I got from this trade at $90 Helped to drive the
cattle to Henderson evrything was shut up to day and evrybody seemed to be
taking a holliday Expenses $3
18th I bought a yoke of oxen from P Latta this morning for $125
and Let Royal Utley have my Keeper Oxen at $185 Sold the Oxen I bought
from Latta to John Lyle at $135
19th At work about the farm to day we had rain again this evening
20th I have been shearing sheep at Mitchells to day we got about
50 sheared this has been another wet day
21st I have been at work putting up new ground fence to day the
ground it too wet to plough and has been ever since ttm spring of the
year set in
22nd Started to the Diamond Island Bend this morning but turned
back on account of the High water It yurned verry cool this evening
and I fear if it clears off we will have frost to night
23rd Sunday this is a Beautifull morning allthough it is cool for
the season as I look around me this morning and contemplated on the
present prospects of the People here I have thought we will all soon return
_ to the primitive times and customs of gold we have been growing rich and
neglectfull of our duties to god we have depended upon a system of labor
which the present dominant Party have despoiled us of and many who have
looked forward to ease and pleasure must now follow the plough and dig for

tend this Sabbath morning to write about Politics so I will Go to church
