6th Sunday This is a verry cool morning I have been looking around
my little place but find nothing verry encouraging in my prospects it has
now been over a month since we have had rain enough to wet the ground I ยท
was at Sunday School and Church this morning Elder Fallan Preached and this
evening I went in company with G B and Dock Martin to see Mr. MhKendrick who
has been for months confined to his room with a riseing in his head he seemed
to be in a verry bad condition and I fear the sands of his life are allmost
run out but oh how cheering the Hope of the christian when afflicted and
life seems to ebb slowly out he can place all as this dying  an said in the
hand of a just god I felt cheered and comforted in talking with this
Christian man and thought as I came home that I would try to be more faith-
full in the future
7th I went to Henderson to day in company with B F Martin to day was
. the city election and there was considerable excitement among the friends
of the rival candidates for Mayor I received from W`H McKinney $120 for
a Horse sold him also $25 for fifty bushels of corn I paid G Mitchell $3h
his part of the money in this trade Expenses &c $2.
8th This was wet morning I was planting corn after dinner
9th Striping tobacco to day I finished my shed Barn in Flat and
Loaded one wagon this has been another wet day and the prospect begins
to brighten for the farmer allthough there has not enough rain fallen to
wet the ground much as yet
10th Went to Henderson to day in company with Thos Smith my tobacco
weighed verry Light as the Load only weighed a little over 1600 Bought

llth Striping tobacco to day I ldzded my wagon this evening &c
12th `Went to Henderson in Co with S Hopkins My tobacco weighed much
better to day as this load weighed 2030 which at $15 brought me $30h.50
I paid Rudy & Smith $2 for whiskey Expenses &c $2
13th Sunday this has been a beautifull sabbath day allthough a little
too cool for the season I was at sabbath school and church in the morning

15th Went to Lame & Co Mill this morning and a fishing in the evening
16th Shearing sheep untill Twelve oclock and went a hunting in the
evening
