hth I was setting out tobacco to day I set out all that I expect to
plant but about four acres went to Sam Coopers where I sat up all night with
Little Ella she was dying all night
Sth I was at Sam Coopers this morning Ella died about 9 oclock poor
little Sufferer it was allmqst a relief to me to see her calmly fall asleep
and know that her sufferings were over that that Blessed Saviour who said
suffer little Children to come unto me had taken her to himself so that
heaven w ere sickness and death come no more
6th We Burried Little Ella this morning and when we had laid her in
her lastkesting place on earth and I saw the Father and Mother turn away
allmost heart broken I could but pray to gofto give them strength to bear `
this the severest trial of their lives for tis heard to lay ones Children
in the earth to lose their society here but if we will live aright we will
all meet again in that heaven where parting will be no more
7th Went to Henderson to day in company with Adelia. I Paid Green I
Marshall & Co. $100 A T Leslie $50 on account Paid a dentist $2 for
Extracting Adelias Teeth Other items & Expenses $3

9th We had a verry fine rain this morning and set out tobacco in
the evening
10th Sunday I was at Church this morning Elder Lacy preached and
went to Uncle Steve Martins in the evening

12th Helped to Burry C H Taylor to day he died yesterday it
13th Went to Henderson to day and like many other fools went to the
circus it was a poor affair and it was hot enough to melt under the can-

15 h I Bought of A W Haskins Fifty acres of land at $hO per acre
to be paid in three Payments and I paid him $515.75 on the first payment ‘
. 16th `went to Henderson in company with G Mitchell I Borrowed of J
Pernett a note on A W Haskins for $169.55 this amt makes $685.28 that I have
paid A W Haskins on land to this date I bought to day of F Fey 2 pair of
shoes for e7.7S Other items &c $3 let G Mitchell have $2
Th 17th Sunday I was at Sabbath School and Church this morning Elder
.urman preached the Funeral sermon of Mrs G P Lilly we had a fine shower
of rain last night

I was planting and Replanting tobacco to day but I expect I have
thrown my work away as it has been most too dry
